New hope for kidney transplant patients: could a home injection replace hospital infusions?
NCT ID NCT05975450
First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether kidney transplant patients could switch from a monthly IV drug (belatacept) to a weekly self-injected drug (abatacept) to prevent organ rejection. Sixteen adults who had a kidney transplant 8-20 weeks earlier took part. The goal was to see if the switch was safe, effective, and more convenient, since patients could inject at home.
