Kidney stone showdown: which removal method leaves patients happier?
NCT ID NCT05006937
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026
Summary
This study looked at two common ways to remove kidney stones during a procedure called ureteroscopy. One method uses a laser to turn the stone into tiny dust that can pass naturally, while the other uses a small basket to grab and remove the pieces. Researchers compared how well each method cleared stones, how much pain patients felt, and how satisfied they were with the treatment. The study involved 168 adults with stones 6 mm or larger.
