Kidney stone showdown: location decides best surgery for medium stones
NCT ID NCT07589153
First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compared two common surgeries for 1-2 cm kidney stones: PCNL and RIRS. Researchers wanted to see if the stone's location in the kidney affects which surgery works better. 110 adults were randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. The main goal was to see how many patients were stone-free after 3 months, and they also looked at surgery time and complications.
