New hope to slow kidney failure: major trial tests simple Add-On pill

NCT ID NCT05373264

Summary

This study aims to see if adding a common water pill (hydrochlorothiazide) to the standard kidney-protecting drug (tolvaptan) can better slow kidney function decline and improve quality of life for people with a genetic kidney disease called ADPKD. It will involve about 300 adults who are already taking tolvaptan. Participants will take either the water pill or a placebo for three years while researchers track their kidney health and daily symptoms.
