Could a common sedative trigger seizures? study investigates Ketamine's hidden risk

NCT ID NCT06741930

Summary

This study aimed to understand if the sedative ketamine might increase the risk of seizures in patients during medical procedures, compared to other common sedatives. Researchers monitored 300 adults without epilepsy who were undergoing a stomach exam with sedation. They used brain wave (EEG) recordings to look for seizure-like activity in patients given ketamine, midazolam, or propofol.
