First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether a single dose of ketamine, a drug that affects brain chemicals, can reduce tinnitus (ringing in the ears). 42 adults with hearing loss and tinnitus received both ketamine and a placebo on different days. The goal was to see if ketamine changes levels of GABA and glutamate in the brain's hearing center, which might ease symptoms.
