Ketamine's brain secrets revealed in new study

NCT ID NCT06698848

First seen May 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how a low dose of ketamine given through an IV can quickly improve depression and suicidal thoughts. Researchers will collect cells from the nose to study gene activity and use brain scans to see how ketamine changes brain connections. The goal is to find the exact molecules and pathways involved, which could lead to better and safer depression treatments. The study includes 120 adults with moderate depression who are not currently on psychiatric medication.
