Weekly shot aims to stop Kids' arthritis from spreading
NCT ID NCT03841357
Summary
This study tested whether weekly injections of a medication called abatacept could prevent mild juvenile arthritis from becoming more severe. Children with recent-onset arthritis affecting four or fewer joints received either the injections plus standard care or standard care alone for 24 weeks, then were followed for up to 18 months. The goal was to see if the treatment could prevent the arthritis from spreading to more joints, prevent eye inflammation, or reduce the need for stronger medications.
