Parkinson's drug tested for apathy, but study stops early

NCT ID NCT05182151

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at whether istradefylline, a drug already approved for motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease, could also improve apathy and motivation. Apathy is a common issue where people lose interest and drive. The study planned to follow 8 participants for 12 weeks, but it was terminated early, so results are limited.
