NCT ID NCT03746769
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a gut hormone called gastrin to an islet cell transplant can help people with hard-to-control type 1 diabetes produce their own insulin and improve blood sugar. About 20 adults aged 18-68 with unstable blood sugar will receive donor islet cells plus gastrin. The goal is to see if they can stop taking insulin and avoid dangerous low blood sugar episodes.
