Brain-Mapping breakthrough could help kids with epilepsy avoid needless surgery
NCT ID NCT06271785
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special brain-mapping technique called high-resolution electrical source imaging (HR-ESI) can predict if epilepsy surgery will stop seizures in children. About 120 children with drug-resistant epilepsy will undergo this scan before surgery. The goal is to see if the pattern of brain activity can tell doctors which kids are most likely to become seizure-free after surgery, helping more children get this life-changing treatment.
