New iron pill trial aims to help anemic moms and babies

NCT ID NCT07381426

Summary

This study is testing whether a newer iron supplement called ferric citrate works better and causes fewer side effects than the standard iron pill (ferrous fumarate) for treating anemia in pregnant women. It will involve 680 pregnant women in Bangladesh who have moderate to severe iron deficiency anemia. The goal is to see if the newer pill improves mothers' iron levels and health, and leads to better outcomes for their babies.
