Milk protein makeover: could coated lactoferrin boost iron absorption?

NCT ID NCT07394972

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether coating a natural milk protein called lactoferrin can protect it during digestion and help women with low iron absorb more iron. Researchers will give 45 iron-deficient women different forms of lactoferrin with a meal and measure how much iron gets into their blood. The goal is to find the best way to use lactoferrin to improve iron absorption.
