Milk protein makeover: could encapsulated lactoferrin boost iron absorption?

NCT ID NCT07394972

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether coating a natural milk protein called lactoferrin can protect it from stomach acid and help it deliver more iron to the body. Researchers will give 45 women with low iron levels different versions of the protein and measure how much iron gets absorbed. The goal is to find a better way to treat iron deficiency without causing side effects.
