Anesthesia type may influence healing hormone in broken arm surgery
NCT ID NCT07324681
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looks at how two types of anesthesia—general anesthesia and a nerve block—affect levels of a hormone called irisin in adults having surgery for a broken forearm. Irisin is linked to inflammation and healing. Researchers will measure irisin in blood before, right after, and 24 hours after surgery, and check if changes relate to how well the bone heals. The goal is to understand if the choice of anesthesia can influence recovery.
