New monitor may keep seniors safer during colonoscopy
NCT ID NCT06987630
First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using a continuous integrated pulmonary index (IPI) monitor could reduce the chance of low oxygen levels in older adults (65+) during a painless colonoscopy. The monitor tracks breathing and heart data to alert staff when oxygen drops. 153 participants were split into two groups: one with the monitor and one without. The goal was to see if the monitor helps prevent hypoxemia and improve safety.
