New study follows 150 patients after Nerve-Zapping back pain treatment
NCT ID NCT05660512
First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study follows 150 people who have already had the Intracept Procedure, a treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to disable a nerve in the spine thought to cause chronic low back pain. Researchers will track how much their pain-related disability improves over time using standard questionnaires. The goal is to see how well the procedure works in real-world use and whether patients are satisfied with the results.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Radiofrequency ablation of the basivertebral nerve (Intracept Procedure)
What this could lead to
If results are positive, this could confirm that the Intracept Procedure is a safe and effective option for reducing disability from chronic low back pain.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so results may be less reliable. It is also small and single-site, so findings may not apply to everyone.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
