Summary

This study looks at how brief periods of low oxygen (like those in sleep apnea) change the activity of certain immune cells called neutrophils. Researchers will collect blood from 120 people—some with moderate-to-severe sleep apnea and some without—to measure how these cells form web-like traps and what levels of a related protein (LL-37) are in the blood. The goal is to better understand the immune effects of sleep apnea, not to test a new treatment.
