New study seeks to unlock immune secrets of the elderly for better virus detection
NCT ID NCT07239830
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study aims to establish normal levels of immune markers called interferons in healthy adults aged 80 and older. By measuring these markers in the nose and blood, researchers hope to improve the diagnosis of active viral infections, which are often missed in older people. The study does not test any treatment or vaccine, but will provide essential reference data to help future diagnostic tools.
