First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study will follow 100 adults who need a chest tube after breaking their ribs. The goal is to learn how often people develop long-term nerve pain (intercostal neuralgia) from the procedure, what factors raise the risk, and how it affects daily life. Researchers will use pain questionnaires and quality-of-life surveys to gather information, but no new treatments are being tested.
