Hospital sugar showdown: tight control vs. standard care in diabetes patients

NCT ID NCT03510078

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at 600 hospitalized patients with diabetes to see if keeping blood sugar very tight (130 mg/dL or lower) is better than standard control (130-180 mg/dL). The goal was to compare rates of death, severe low blood sugar, infections, strokes, and heart events within 30 days. The findings help guide how to manage blood sugar in non-critically ill patients during hospital stays.
