NCT ID NCT05462262
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests whether intensive cholesterol-lowering (LDL below 1.8 mmol/L) can slow the buildup of artery plaque and reduce heart attacks, strokes, and other major events in adults aged 40–75 who have early plaque but are at low to intermediate risk. About 2,900 participants will receive either standard or intensive treatment and be followed for several years. The goal is to see if earlier, stronger treatment can prevent heart disease from getting worse.
