First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether intensive cholesterol-lowering therapy can slow the buildup of plaque in heart arteries and reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other major heart problems. It includes 2,900 adults aged 40-75 who have early plaque but are at low to intermediate risk for heart disease. Participants will receive either standard or intensive cholesterol-lowering treatment, and researchers will track changes in plaque and heart events over time.
