First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested whether a lower dose of insulin (5 units) works as well as the standard dose (10 units) for lowering dangerously high potassium levels in adults. Researchers enrolled 384 patients with potassium levels of 5.5 mEq/L or higher. The goal was to see if the smaller dose could safely and effectively reduce potassium without causing side effects like low blood sugar.
