New device helps seniors breathe easier by perfecting inhaler use

Summary

This study tests a device called 'Golden Rhino' that uses sounds and a weighted valve to teach elderly COPD patients how to use their inhalers correctly. About 82 people aged 65 and older will be randomly assigned to standard training or training with the device. The goal is to see if the device improves breathing, medication accuracy, and quality of life.
