Daily inhaler trial aims to slow genetic lung damage

NCT ID NCT04204252

Summary

This study is testing whether inhaling a protein called AAT daily can slow down lung damage in adults with a genetic condition called Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. For the first two years, half the participants will receive the active treatment and half will receive a placebo, followed by two years where everyone gets the active treatment. Researchers will measure lung function, scan lungs, and track symptoms to see if the treatment helps preserve breathing ability.
