First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 3-week course of ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory drug) works better than standard pain relief (acetaminophen) for people hospitalized with acute myocarditis, a type of heart muscle inflammation. About 150 adults with mild heart damage will be enrolled. The main goal is to see if ibuprofen reduces scarring in the heart, measured by MRI at 6 months.
