Can we stop giving preventive antibiotics to transplant patients?

NCT ID NCT07308457

Summary

This study aims to find out if closely watching for signs of infection works as well as giving daily preventive antibiotics to adults receiving stem cell transplants for blood cancers. Researchers will compare two groups: one that gets a daily antibiotic (ceftriaxone) and one that does not, but is monitored with continuous temperature checks and prompt testing. The goal is to see which approach better prevents serious infections, especially in hospitals where bacteria are becoming resistant to common drugs.
