C-Section babies get a gut check: Mom's bacteria to the rescue?

NCT ID NCT07212361

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests if giving C-section babies bacteria from their mother can help restore their gut microbiome to be more like babies born vaginally. Researchers will compare these maternal bacteria to standard probiotics. One hundred healthy infants will receive a daily oral bacterial product for one or four weeks, and their gut health will be tracked through stool, urine, and saliva samples.
