Gentle touch for tiny patients: can massage ease swelling in preemies?
NCT ID NCT07418814
Summary
This study is testing whether gentle daily massage can help reduce painful swelling (lymphedema) and improve comfort in premature babies in the intensive care unit. It will involve 40 stable preterm infants, comparing standard care to standard care plus a 15-minute massage for 14 days. Researchers will measure swelling in the arms and legs and assess the babies' comfort levels to see if this simple, non-invasive therapy helps.
