Smart steroid strategy aims to tame pneumonia with fewer side effects

NCT ID NCT05334316

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a personalized approach to giving steroids to adults hospitalized with pneumonia. Instead of a one-size-fits-all dose, doctors will use a blood test (CRP) to decide the right amount and timing for each patient. The goal is to reduce steroid side effects while still controlling lung inflammation. About 24 participants will be enrolled at Mayo Clinic.
