New dressing may cut wound problems after flap surgery
NCT ID NCT04762732
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special vacuum dressing (called incisional negative pressure wound therapy) can reduce wound problems after taking a skin and muscle flap from the thigh for head and neck reconstruction. About 138 adults who need this surgery will be randomly assigned to get either the new dressing or a standard one. The main goal is to see if the new dressing leads to fewer wound openings or infections in the first 6 weeks after surgery.
