Summary
This study tested whether giving the antiviral drug valacyclovir to pregnant women with CMV infection could reduce harm to their unborn babies. CMV is a common virus that can cause brain damage and other problems in newborns. The trial enrolled 41 pregnant women whose babies were infected with CMV, and measured how many had healthy outcomes at birth.
