Can a computer alert get more patients the comfort care they need?

NCT ID NCT06596577

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests whether electronic health record alerts can help more seriously ill hospital patients get palliative care. About 18,000 adults at 9 hospitals will be included. The alerts nudge doctors to order a palliative care consult, and researchers will see if this improves care and reduces differences in who gets help.
