Dialysis vein mystery: can we predict blockages?

NCT ID NCT01693263

First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at people with end-stage kidney disease who need a special connection in their arm for dialysis, called a brachiocephalic fistula. A common problem is that a vein in the upper chest narrows over time, which can make dialysis harder. Researchers are using scans and computer models to track what happens inside the vein, hoping to find clues about why this narrowing occurs.
