Lidocaine drip may speed recovery and cut opioid use after surgery

NCT ID NCT07224711

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving patients a lidocaine drip during and after major non-cardiac surgery helps them recover faster. About 2,290 adults having elective surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either lidocaine or a placebo. The goal is to see if lidocaine shortens hospital stays, reduces opioid painkiller use, and lowers pain scores, while checking for side effects like blurred vision or drowsiness.
