New drug may shield kidneys during heart surgery

Summary
This study tested a drug called ilofotase alfa in 271 adults at risk for kidney damage after open heart surgery. Participants received two doses of the drug or a placebo through a vein. The goal was to see if the drug could keep kidneys working better after surgery.
