Mind over muscle: can imagining movement help burn victims heal?
NCT ID NCT04467619
Summary
This study explored whether a therapy called 'illusory movements'—where patients imagine moving their limbs without physically doing so—could help adults with severe burns. Researchers tested if this mental exercise could reduce harmful muscle breakdown and improve the body's energy use during recovery. The small trial involved 12 burn patients and compared results to healthy volunteers.
