Scientists probe hidden link between Body's inflammation and thyroid in dialysis patients

NCT ID NCT07328113

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a common inflammation marker in the blood, called Interleukin-6 (IL-6), is connected to thyroid hormone problems in people with chronic kidney disease who are on long-term dialysis. Researchers analyzed blood samples from 65 stable dialysis patients to look for statistical relationships. The goal was to gather knowledge to help explain why thyroid issues are common in this patient group, not to test a treatment.
