Scientists probe hidden link between Body's inflammation and thyroid in dialysis patients

NCT ID NCT07328113

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a common marker of body-wide inflammation, called Interleukin-6 (IL-6), is connected to thyroid hormone problems in people with severe kidney disease who need dialysis. Researchers analyzed blood samples from 65 stable dialysis patients to look for statistical links between IL-6 levels and various thyroid hormone measurements. The goal was to gather knowledge about how these conditions might be related, not to test a new treatment.
