Summary

This study tests whether IGC-AD1, a THC-based oral medication, can safely reduce agitation in people with mild to severe Alzheimer's dementia. About 164 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo twice daily for several weeks. Researchers will measure changes in agitation using a standard scale, aiming to improve quality of life for patients and their caregivers.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
IGC-AD1 (a THC-based oral solution)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new way to calm agitation in people with Alzheimer's, potentially reducing caregiver burden.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 164 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug contains THC, which can cause side effects like dizziness or confusion.
