Can a nighttime drug give ICU patients real sleep?

NCT ID NCT06824077

Summary

This study aims to see if a medication called dexmedetomidine helps patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) get better, more restful sleep. About 50 adult ICU patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the study medication or a placebo for two nights while their sleep is monitored. The main goal is to test whether this approach is practical for a larger future study, by checking if patients can be recruited and if the sleep monitoring equipment is comfortable to use.
