Hidden errors in ICU monitors could affect Life-Saving treatments
NCT ID NCT07330505
Summary
This study aims to measure how often pressure monitors in intensive care units (ICUs) are slightly misaligned, which can lead to incorrect readings. Researchers will observe 60 critically ill adult patients on breathing machines who have special catheters for monitoring blood pressure. They will secretly compare the standard monitor readings to a perfectly aligned reference for 8 hours to see if measurement errors are linked to treatment decisions like adjusting medications.
