Silent suffering: researchers probe hidden pain in ICU

Summary
This study aims to find out how common pain is for sedated patients in intensive care who are on breathing machines. Researchers will observe 370 patients to see if pain is linked to longer hospital stays, difficulty coming off the ventilator, or risk of death. The study does not test a new treatment but instead observes patients using standard pain assessment tools to gather knowledge.
