Ice packs slash opioid use after C-Section, study finds

NCT ID NCT07626138

First seen Jun 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether putting ice packs on the belly after a planned C-section could lower pain and the need for strong painkillers like opioids. Eighty women who had a C-section under spinal anesthesia took part. Half got standard pain care plus ice packs, and the other half got standard care alone. The researchers measured pain levels and how much opioid medication was used in the first 24 hours after surgery.
