First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether ibutamoren, a drug that boosts growth hormone, can reduce fat buildup in the liver of people with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Twelve generally healthy adults with NAFLD took the drug for 6 months. Researchers measured changes in liver fat using MRI scans. The goal was to see if the drug could lower liver fat and reduce inflammation, potentially offering a new treatment option for this common obesity-related condition.
