New study aims to predict painful skin rash in incontinent patients

NCT ID NCT06978751

First seen Jun 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study followed 271 adults in hospitals who have incontinence but no skin rash yet. Researchers checked daily for a rash called incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) and recorded factors like age, sex, and stool type. The goal was to see which factors best predict who will get the rash, so a risk assessment tool can be developed to help prevent it.
