New study uses sugar and isotope tests to unlock gut health in stunted children

NCT ID NCT07256028

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at 40 stunted children in Morocco who have a gut condition called environmental enteric dysfunction (EED). Researchers will use special sugar and isotope tests to measure how well the children absorb essential amino acids (protein building blocks). The goal is to understand if supplementing with these amino acids for 28 days can improve gut health and nutrient absorption.
