First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study tested whether formal hypnosis, a non-drug relaxation technique, can reduce anxiety and pain in cancer patients undergoing brachytherapy (a type of internal radiation). Sixty-eight adults were randomly assigned to receive either standard care or standard care plus hypnosis during the procedure. Researchers measured anxiety and pain levels before and after treatment to see if hypnosis improved patient comfort.
