Could a common blood pressure pill also protect your heart's tiny vessels?

NCT ID NCT05593055

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a type of blood pressure medication called a mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist can improve blood flow in the small vessels of the heart and make the heart pump more efficiently. Researchers will compare it to a standard diuretic in 75 adults with high blood pressure and a thickened heart muscle (left ventricular hypertrophy). Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments, and changes in heart function will be measured using imaging scans.
